Designed to embrace the shadow, the proposal is an 18m2 garden studio, set within a conservation area, providing a haven from the city. The building is a tribute to timber construction, clad in tar-coated marine plywood, with a timber frame structure and exposed oiled birch-clad interior walls. The cladding opens and closes depending on use, revealing or concealing the life within.
